I desperately need to update photos of the kids. The beautiful ones that Nikki took are a year and a half old, and the kids have changed so much. Especially Zak. I was going to have Nikki take them again because she does such a great job, but I decided to try to do it myself, since I just got a new camera. I have to say that it was very difficult to try to pose the boys. I think cause it's "Mom" doing it, they thought "whatever!", so I gave up and just shot them however and whenever I could. I'm really happy with what I managed to get and it's been SO MUCH fun to see what I captured in a picture. However, I'm not familiar enough to know how to change dimensions. The camera picture has way more background to it than when you use edit software. It might be because I'm using the freebie Picassa stuff, but I really don't know. Anyway, if anyone knows how to keep the dimensions the same as they are from the camera, let me know!!! I hate when the picture is fine in the camera but when you go to print it's not. Why is that I ask!!!???!!
I can't decide which ones I truly like, and these small pictures don't really do them justice. I'll have to figure out how to post them really large. Anybody know how? Let me know, pleeeezze!
All in all, I'm really happy with how they turned out. The girls will be next!
I love how these turned out, but I'm really not liking the basketball stand in the background. I guess I need to be more aware of the background, but when you're trying to catch a candid moment, you have to be quick! This is why you should probably pay someone to take the photos. Ah well...
This particular picture of Andon reminds me sooo much of my brother Aaron. They have the same hair too! The kind that just sticks up and grows forward.
This is my sweet little nephew who is Andon's age. It couldn't have been planned any better. He spent time with us this past weekend without his parents and we were so privileged to have had him. His mom said that when he was saying the prayer at dinner that he mentioned how much he loves Andon and Doug and Kristin. Seriously melted my heart!! Both Doug and I are very touched by that. Thanks Treven!!!

Funny Things The Kids Say
One day Andon and I were talking about our hearts. He asked me how they worked, I gave him an explanation a 4 y r old could understand, (the only one I understand.) The very next day, I said something to Zak. Something that went along the lines of, "quit that!" or some such demand. Andon then says to me: "Mommy, listen to your heart. That's not very nice." Needless to say I felt like a complete and total toad. Just goes to show that you can always learn more from your children than you could ever teach them yourself. While we were camping, Andon and our friend's son were sitting next to one another. Brayden who is 15 says to Andon, "I've known you since you were a baby." Andon replies, "I've known me since I was a baby too!"
Brittnee is our funny bone. The things she says sometimes are so dang funny! One day, as she was walking by Doug she says, "Hello, my good man." We both looked at her and we both began cracking up. This is how she's referred to him lately.
I was sitting on the couch taking a breather after dinner and Andon walks past me into the kitchen. He had a car in his hand and as he walked by the fridge he must have dropped it because I heard him say, "tartar sauce!" I suppose I should limit his sponge bob watching.
I was in the car with the kids coming home from Britt's tap class and she was telling me about the school BBQ that day. She mentioned that her friend got sick. I asked her what happened and she said, "Layla has lots of diseases so she had to go home." I didn't think I heard her clearly, so I repeated back, "diseases?" Britt said, "Yes, Diseases." By this time I was truly perplexed because I knew she didn't really mean disease, but I couldn't figure out what she DID mean. Then Teaghan pipes up and says, "You mean ALLERGIES?" Brittnee says, "Oh yeah, that's what it is. ALLERGIES!" I laughed heartily, the kind where your shoulders shake and your stomach hurts.
We were at the school today, and on one of the playgrounds is these cubes that turn. On them are the states and their capitols. There's quite a few of them, and they're all blue. Zakry starts playing with them and turning them all, and then I hear, "mommy, look, a car wash." I suppose the large blue cubes reminded him of the car wash we went on last week. So funny!!

Gorgeous pictures Kristin. I think you did Fabulous for your first photo shoot.
Great pic. Such cute boys. I didn't even notice the basketball hoop until you mentioned it. ;)
AT least the hoop is blurred so you can't really notice it! Love the pics, can't wait to see the ones of Kristin. That one of Andon reminds me of Aaron too:) Great Job! Kenley will be 18 months on the 8th and I need to get her pictures done, maybe you could make the drive up:) LOL Where did you take the pictures?
PS! I want copies:)
You did such a great job! Wanna take my family pictures??
I love the first picture of Andon. The one where he is leaning against the tree with his "I'm sexy" smirk on. Cute!
Those are great Kristin, catching the kids in there normal element is so much more fun to look at. Bryan would love the hoop in the background ;)We just had a little class last night about photography and my friend lindsay says, you should check all four corners to make sure there is nothing funny going on in the picture. It's hard with kids, there sometimes isn't enought time to do that. It seems like pictures always look brighter on your camera, so make sure you are adjusting the lighting on the computer when needed. I usually print with winkflash and they do a pretty good job. I do not like Sams or Walmart, there is a grey cast over the pictures for some reason. Final tip from me is if you are going to print 8x10s make sure you preview the picture before the order because you make need to crop it down a little. I have a lot of pictures cut off on the top and bottom because I didn't double check.
I just took the pictures at Hagen Park. Thanks for the tips Amy! I think I'm going to develop them at Ritz Camera shop. I think they automatically adjust the size. I'll have to look into that though. As far as the lighting, I did that on purpose. I was trying to catch the light in their faces but I guess it comes off being too light. Good info to know!
Carrie, I don't know if you're serious, but if you are you'd be my guinea pigs. If that's okay with you!
GREAT JOB! I love them! I'm very impressed. We are going to be needing family pics soon...now, I know who to call! I am excited to see the girls' photo shoot. Keep up the great work! You should get a tripod, set the camera on self-time and do your family pics. That'll be fun!
Hey Kristin, let me rephrase what I ment. I think your lighting looks great. I love these pictures, and by the way you have two very adorable boys!! I was just commenting about what you said about the picture looking different on the computer vs. printing them. I know that can be a challenging part of photography. You have got me convinced that I need to get my Nikon D40 soon!!!
yes, i'm serious, but i can only pay you with cookies and snacks.
Carrie, since your kids would be my guinea pigs, I wouldn't expect payment, and won't be for a while. It will mostly be me playing around with other people's kids just for the experience. Plus, this way limits my own stress to get great photos. I'll be much more relaxed knowing that if they don't turn out well, there's no harm done. I get some more experience, and, well.... you guys get a great day in the park. Hmmm....I guess I do come out better on this deal. (Cringe) But if we get some great photos of the kids, then we both win! LOL!!
Just remember, I am a COMPLETE NOVICE!!!! And really, I'm just looking at this photography thing as a hobby, something that I can do for fun. I think it would be great fun to take pics of your kids!
GREAT camera, I didn't even notice the basketball hoop.
Janay
Your boys are so stinkin handsome, so are you into arranged marriages?
