I have known Amy for some years now, but it had been a while since we'd seen each other. Her boys have gotten so big!!! And boy do they have some energy:) Whew! As I was editing through all the MANY photos I took, I realized that it was going to be a bit difficult finding a photo where everyone was looking forward. Amy's boys are super cute and it really was fun to take pictures of them. Especially the portraits. I think that is my favorite part of photography. It's just you and the other person....they can't escape if they tried. Boowahahaha! (That was said maniacally:)
So Amy, thank you for asking me to take your photos! It was great to catch up with you, and quite frankly, you are looking amazing girl!! I hope you like your pictures!

Photography Challenge Day 6
I know I'm not technically on Day 6, but Day 5 wasn't advantageous today. Day 6 of the challenge was, so I will come back to it. Cause that's how I roll :)
Day 6 challenge is to photo something from a low angle. Since Teaghan and I were hanging out together today and I needed a model to come with me to check out a new venue, she became said model. So before I win "Bad parent of the year award" for letting my child stay out of school, in my defense she was getting her bottom braces on, and then I used the opportunity to hang out with her and help her with some of her Christmas shopping. And yes, it was fun. It is ever so nice to hang out with my children one by one!
As I was going through the photos I had taken I realized that one of them could be used for Day 6. Voila! If I can do things in bulk I will:)

Of course, at least for me, it's easy to photograph my children. I know their individual looks.... I can predict their behavior so I know whether to follow them around or stay put... I know what I want to capture in their smile. Today wasn't any different. I was there to just make sure I knew how I wanted to work my lighting for a photo session I'm doing on Saturday, and I knew that Teaghan would go where I needed her to go and not gripe as I fiddled with my settings. What I didn't account for was that she used the opportunity to get some photos done. I mean, why not right? I found myself getting into it too. It really was very fun!! Especially when you're 14 and EVERYTHING is an adventure and EVERYTHING is silly in some way. Makes me feel young.
*sigh*
So I figured I would share a few cause they just turned out so stinking cute. I know I'm biased, but I still think the girl is striking:) And she's got a great personality to boot!
Now just where does she get that from?
:)

But here's the really great part. I hardly had to edit these!! It was super fast cause I had the lighting SOOC exactly how I like it.
Woo hoo!!
Light bulb moment: Manual really is better. Who knew? :)
I leave you with...

Leah Baptism Photos
Leah...
This girl is spunky, has a great smile, is COMPLETELY photogenic, and was such a trooper while taking pictures in the cold cold morning. I don't think she ever complained!! How easy it was to photo Leah for her special day, and I feel very privileged to have been asked. Thanks Angela!! I hope you and Leah like them!

I mentioned that she's a trooper right? So I saw this picture of blowing confetti on Pinterest, and since I haven't been able to get one of my girls to do it, I thought... why not ask Leah? So she did! And I do think they turned out cute! I was able to use an edit that I rarely use too so I am one happy photographer:)
She also humored me when I gave her some bubbles too. I just love bubbles!!
Thanks Leah for being such a good subject to photograph!! You're the best!

Whitmill Family Photos- AKA My Brother :)
My sister in law Tasha asked me to take some photos of her family while we were all in San Francisco. Admidst Brittnee throwing up the entire day, we did manage to get some shots done. I just wish we would've had more time, but my poor Britt needed to get home. And it was her birthday and Tasha's. Happy Birthday poor girl!!
Tasha, I know I was just going to let you edit these yourself cause I didn't have any more CD's, but I couldn't help myself. Kenley is GORGEOUS and well, so are you and Aaron. These photos couldn't help but turn out cute! I almost wish they were mine so I could frame them:)

Thanks for asking me to take them! Love to you all!!
Photgraphy Challenge Day Four
I fully admit it. I took off all last week from this challenge. Granted it was the holidays and we were busy trying to have a good one, despite the puke fest that went on. So sorry to my brother and his family. But at least we got a trip to San Francisco in and Thanksgiving Dinner enjoyed before it ALL came back up again. Love you guys for coming out though!!!
Today's challenge is to take a picture of something green.
Green....
Hmmm...
It's in the middle of winter, what in the world is green? My lawn? But who wants to see that.
Then it hit me. It's Christmastime!! I have green things in my house! Our tree has gone up sans the decorations because I am still working on them. I'm trying to do a "brown paper packages" kind of tree and am making a lot of the ornaments, so it's pretty bare except for the lights. But here's the interesting thing. I kind of like it. Just bare bones Mr. Christmas tree.
You are going to have to tilt your head to view this photo. Yep that's right. Go for it!
This next picture is me kicking my feet up "pool side." Minus the pool of course, but it never gets old sitting with some hot chocolate, looking at your Christmas tree. As much as I love summer, this holiday time comes in first place.
Elf on a Shelf has come this year. The kids have named him Squirt. Teaghan just deferred to the other three children to come up with a name. Apparently she's not in the festive mood yet:) Side story though.... After Zak found out that Squirt comes in the middle of the night and they would have to find him in the morning, he wigged out. Apparently he didn't want the Elf to come into his room and scare him.
So he slept in Andon's bed last night. I'm not sure why I think them sleeping together is so dang cute, but it is.
These next pictures are of a small tree sitting on my island.
Bulbs in a vase...
My HOPE blocks. This might not have been the best idea, but I have them on my kitchen table. The only problem is that when we eat I have to take them down and I think that may get a bit annoying, but when we're not eating... It's cute:)
Early Merry Christmas to you all!!

Funny Things The Kids Say
One day Andon and I were talking about our hearts. He asked me how they worked, I gave him an explanation a 4 y r old could understand, (the only one I understand.) The very next day, I said something to Zak. Something that went along the lines of, "quit that!" or some such demand. Andon then says to me: "Mommy, listen to your heart. That's not very nice." Needless to say I felt like a complete and total toad. Just goes to show that you can always learn more from your children than you could ever teach them yourself. While we were camping, Andon and our friend's son were sitting next to one another. Brayden who is 15 says to Andon, "I've known you since you were a baby." Andon replies, "I've known me since I was a baby too!"
Brittnee is our funny bone. The things she says sometimes are so dang funny! One day, as she was walking by Doug she says, "Hello, my good man." We both looked at her and we both began cracking up. This is how she's referred to him lately.
I was sitting on the couch taking a breather after dinner and Andon walks past me into the kitchen. He had a car in his hand and as he walked by the fridge he must have dropped it because I heard him say, "tartar sauce!" I suppose I should limit his sponge bob watching.
I was in the car with the kids coming home from Britt's tap class and she was telling me about the school BBQ that day. She mentioned that her friend got sick. I asked her what happened and she said, "Layla has lots of diseases so she had to go home." I didn't think I heard her clearly, so I repeated back, "diseases?" Britt said, "Yes, Diseases." By this time I was truly perplexed because I knew she didn't really mean disease, but I couldn't figure out what she DID mean. Then Teaghan pipes up and says, "You mean ALLERGIES?" Brittnee says, "Oh yeah, that's what it is. ALLERGIES!" I laughed heartily, the kind where your shoulders shake and your stomach hurts.
We were at the school today, and on one of the playgrounds is these cubes that turn. On them are the states and their capitols. There's quite a few of them, and they're all blue. Zakry starts playing with them and turning them all, and then I hear, "mommy, look, a car wash." I suppose the large blue cubes reminded him of the car wash we went on last week. So funny!!
