Where the Crazy turns into something Amazing

About Me

My photo
I'm a stay at home mom who's found blogging to be the best way to vent rationally. I love spending time with my family. This blog is my journal, since I find journaling to be somewhat tedious, so if you visit often, just know that things will be "real."

Just a few More

I had to add these last pictures. I don't know if you can tell or not, but the one right below is a warning that you're standing on the edge of a cliff. We went and saw this lighthouse that hasn't been in operation since the 1960's. The original lightkeeper's house and his assistant's houses are still there but have been preserved. The Lightkeeper's house has been made into a hotel. It's very cute! (See below pictures) Anyway, if you look close at the warning sign you'll see a person falling off. The kids definitely understood the picture more than just the
word warning. Especially the boys!

This house is the assistant light keeper's house. It's still the same exact house, just restored. It's so beautiful!

This house is the light keeper's house. It's a little bit bigger than the assistant's house. Go figure right? It's a hotel now. There's no electronic stuff other than lighting and cooking. You really do feel like you've stepped back in time when you visit these grounds.

This is just one of the spectacular views from the lighthouse.

Here's the Lighthouse. All nicely restored.

I don't know what kind of flower this is, but it was SOOO stinky! We were walking down a path and this smell just suddenly permeated the air. We couldn't figure out what it was at first, and then realized it was the flowers! Or maybe they're weeds. Either way, PEEEE-YEEEWWW!

This last picture is one Doug took. It's gorgeous!!! The people are some friends of ours that we camp with every year. With views like these you now know why we love it there. These next pics are some that Doug took. He loves taking landscape pictures. I don't. At all. So he did and he took some amazing shots!

Our campground was just between those trees at the end of the path. I love being that close to the ocean. At night you can hear the dull roar. It's so soothing. It's no wonder that the ocean is so loved.

This is what we got to see EVERY night. How fantastic is that!

I finished "Breaking Dawn" last night at 11:30. Thank heavens, cause I didn't want to be up all night! I'm so with you Nicole, we should definitely have a book club to discuss this last book, and then all four of them together. I'll even host it.

So now that I'm done with the book, other matters can preoccupy my time, other than my kids that is. I've sorted through all the camping photos, it took me an HOUR- AN HOUR just to peruse the photos I'd uploaded. I won't bore you with all of them, cause that would take you and hour too, and really, who cares about looking at someone else's camping photos. But since I plan on printing this blog at some point, I'm going to put some in for posterity. Plus, there are just some really fun ones. So now that you know what this post is about, you can continue on and look, or save yourself the time if you really don't want to bother.

It won't hurt my feelings. Really, it won't. I won't even know you didn't look. YOU BETTER LOOK!! Just kidding. Really. Just kidding.

Unfortunately I don't know how to blow these pictures up any bigger than they are. This is a cute one of Brittnee realizing that the ocean is seriously cold when the waves rushed her. Her mouth is wide open.

This is Zak doing the Michael Jackson pose. (note where his hand is.)

I GOT IT!!!

I wasn't going to, but I did. I got the new vampire book, Breaking Dawn! I wasn't going to knock myself out and get it, but rather BORROW it when someone else had finished. I mean really, it's a 24 hour read right? I wouldn't have to wait long. So I was in Deseret Book today, picking up a gift, and as I was waiting to pay, I pointed out to Sheila the book (Breaking Dawn) sitting on the counter, within an arms reach. We talked about it for a second, how she's still waiting for hers (even after she PRE-ordered it). Finally it's my turn to pay for my item and as I hand him my debit card I ask him how much the book is. (I mean really, how could I not buy it when it's SO CLOSE. My fingers were just itching to do so.) He tells me it's twenty something, I forget the actual amount, and I tell Sheila that you can get it at Costco for $12. The reason I know this is because Laura told me that her mother picked a copy up for her at the Costco in Folsom for that teeny tiny amount. The clerk hears me tell Sheila this little tidbit, and he says to me, "Well, we price match." I said "WHAT? You price match? You mean you'll give this book to me for $12 dollars?" He says, "Sure," all happily like. I look at Sheila, cause I can't believe the bargain that just hatched right there in front of us, we pick our jaws up off the floor, and I triumphantly shout...."SOLD!!!"

I now have the new book that I didn't have to wait up for, stand in line for, or order early for. Sheila on the other hand made the joke that she pre-ordered hers WEEKS ago and still hasn't got it. She says, "That's the whole point of pre-ordering: so you don't have to WAIT. Doesn't Amazon know this?!" Well, she's absolutely right. I told her if she doesn't have her book today she could borrow mine, cause most likely I will finish it in the wee hours of the coming morning, or at least by midafternoon tomorrow. I can't wait for the kids to go to bed tonight! Sure, I could start now, but then I'd have to start and stop, and I REALLY hate doing that. And I really should say hello to Doug when he walks in the door. If I start the book now, I'm very likely to just be completely oblivious to his presence. (My family often feels neglected when I take on a book. Which is probably why I don't start many series.) Shoot- maybe I oughta wait till Doug leaves for the encampment Thursday? Aww, who am I kidding, I'll never be able to wait till Thursday. I'll just deprive myself of sleep tonight and try to make up for it in the next couple of days.

Just as a side note here, as the clerk was ringing up my purchases, I made the joke to Sheila that I should've said $10. The clerk laughed, and Sheila says that maybe I should've said that I could've gotten it at the 99cent store, but that I'd probably have to show my temple recommend for that one. LOL!!!!!!

Funny Things The Kids Say

One day Andon and I were talking about our hearts. He asked me how they worked, I gave him an explanation a 4 y r old could understand, (the only one I understand.) The very next day, I said something to Zak. Something that went along the lines of, "quit that!" or some such demand. Andon then says to me: "Mommy, listen to your heart. That's not very nice." Needless to say I felt like a complete and total toad. Just goes to show that you can always learn more from your children than you could ever teach them yourself.

While we were camping, Andon and our friend's son were sitting next to one another. Brayden who is 15 says to Andon, "I've known you since you were a baby." Andon replies, "I've known me since I was a baby too!"

Brittnee is our funny bone. The things she says sometimes are so dang funny! One day, as she was walking by Doug she says, "Hello, my good man." We both looked at her and we both began cracking up. This is how she's referred to him lately.

I was sitting on the couch taking a breather after dinner and Andon walks past me into the kitchen. He had a car in his hand and as he walked by the fridge he must have dropped it because I heard him say, "tartar sauce!" I suppose I should limit his sponge bob watching.

I was in the car with the kids coming home from Britt's tap class and she was telling me about the school BBQ that day. She mentioned that her friend got sick. I asked her what happened and she said, "Layla has lots of diseases so she had to go home." I didn't think I heard her clearly, so I repeated back, "diseases?" Britt said, "Yes, Diseases." By this time I was truly perplexed because I knew she didn't really mean disease, but I couldn't figure out what she DID mean. Then Teaghan pipes up and says, "You mean ALLERGIES?" Brittnee says, "Oh yeah, that's what it is. ALLERGIES!" I laughed heartily, the kind where your shoulders shake and your stomach hurts.

We were at the school today, and on one of the playgrounds is these cubes that turn. On them are the states and their capitols. There's quite a few of them, and they're all blue. Zakry starts playing with them and turning them all, and then I hear, "mommy, look, a car wash." I suppose the large blue cubes reminded him of the car wash we went on last week. So funny!!
